Fewer Jobs for OFWs in U.S & Europe, More Opportunities in Asia
OFWs can expect less job opportunities in other parts of the world like Europe, the United States, Australia and New Zealand because of the global economic crisis. The good news is that there will be more employment opportunities available for overseas Filipino workers in Asia this 2010.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) reported that Asian countries like Malaysia, Japan and Taiwan are pushing through their development plans in different sectors of their society, generating more jobs for foreign skilled workers in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Taiwan’s development plans will open more than 200,000 jobs open to OFWs for the next five years.
Development plans and projects have opened opportunities for many workers in the fields of healthcare, manufacturing, construction, transport, communication, agriculture, education, information technology, finance, machine operations and many others. With this wide range of industries open for employment, many overseas Filipino workers would have a better chance in securing jobs in Asia that are expected to last within five to ten years.
Saudi Arabia awaits the service of more OFWs, in addition to more than a million others already there, as it builds 12 mega-industrial/economic cities which are sure to produce employment until 2024.
