Safeway Philtech Inc. was established in 2003 as a fully owned subsidiary of Safeway Holdings Inc. Philtech is its Primary Application Support and Development Center for subsidiaries and affiliates which include Vons, Randalls, Dominick’s, Pavilions, Carrs, Tom Thumb, Genuardi’s, Pak’nSave.

On the software development arena, Safeway Philtech develops software programs based on the design and specifications provided by Safeway USA’s internal IT Departments. The corresponding software testing is also being performed by Safeway Philtech to ensure the quality and usability of the software.

A major service provided by Safeway Philtech for Safeway USA is the Retail Laboratory Facilities. This is where various retail hardware and system applications are tested, made ready for implementation, and rolled-out to Safeway stores in the US.

Safeway Philtech provides maintenance and support services to the Safeway USA user community. These involve remediating problems that occur for systems, applications and programs currently in production. All application level systems amends shall be communicated to the Safeway Philtech Application Support Team. This team’s main objective is to identify the cause of each problem, develop a solution, and apply these solutions in the production environment of the system, application, or program within established service level agreement.
